Nebiha Shafi is an astrophysicist with extensive experience in radio astronomy. She works as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Her research interests currently revolve around galactic winds/outflows in starburst or active galaxies and their relation to the fundamental properties of galaxy evolution, and the cosmological impact of thermal and non-thermal plasma feedback in the growth of cosmic structures.
Beside her research, Nebiha actively participates in public outreach programs promoting astronomy and science education. She also works on gender and education related issues to attract more women into science and engineering fields. It is her great desire and responsibility to make a significant difference and stimulate the contribution of girls towards science - especially in Ethiopia.
